Morocco is not yet a fully accessible destination, but travelling there in a wheelchair or with reduced mobility is entirely possible with good preparation. Here is what you need to know, without sugar-coating or discouraging.

At the airport, assistance is a right: for a flight departing from the European Union or on an EU airline, EU Regulation 1107/2006 provides free assistance, to be requested at least 48 hours before the flight; Royal Air Maroc also offers wheelchair assistance. By train, contact ONCF in advance, as access varies between stations and trains. The easiest cities are Agadir (flat seafront promenade, large adapted hotels), Marrakech outside the medina (the Hivernage and Gueliz districts) and Rabat, while the steep medina of Fes is the hardest. Choose modern hotels with adapted rooms rather than riads, and a private vehicle with driver for day trips.
