Marrakech in January: Weather, Marathon and Things to Do
After the holidays, January is one of the calmest and most affordable months in Marrakech. The sun is still out, the Atlas is white and the city hosts its international marathon.
Marrakech in January means around 18 °C by day and 6 °C at night: sunshine and blue skies by day, a clear chill in the evening. After 2 January, the city empties of holidaymakers and riad prices often drop: one of the best times for an affordable stay. Three public holidays fall in January: 1 January, 11 January (Independence Manifesto) and 14 January (Amazigh New Year, Yennayer). The Marrakech International Marathon runs on 31 January 2027. For activities: the Agafay Desert (from €14), Ourika beneath snowy peaks (from €9-15), a hammam and a sunrise hot-air balloon flight (from €52-61). Ramadan 2027, expected from 8 February, does not affect January.
