Morocco has 17 public holidays in 2027: fixed-date national holidays and religious holidays whose dates depend on the sighting of the crescent moon. Here is the full calendar and, above all, what each type of holiday actually changes for a traveller.
Morocco has 17 public holidays in 2027: 10 fixed-date national holidays, Yennayer (Amazigh New Year, 14 January) and 6 days of religious holidays. Before the end of 2026, three holidays are coming up: Unity Day (Eid Al Wahda) on 31 October, Green March Day on 6 November and Independence Day on 18 November. On national holidays, government offices and banks close, but most souks, restaurants and tourist sites stay open. Religious holidays have more impact: during Eid al-Fitr (expected around 10 March 2027) and especially Eid al-Adha (expected around 17 May 2027), many medina shops close for one to three days, and trains and buses are packed with Moroccans travelling home to their families. Religious dates remain approximate until the official announcement by the Ministry of Habous.

What It Means for Travellers
National holidays. Banks, government offices and some public museums close. Souks, riads, restaurants and most tourist sites stay open, and cities are often decked with flags. Withdraw cash the day before.
