About the event

Created in 2008, the Africa Eco Race follows the historic Europe–West Africa route that the big rally-raids abandoned. Morocco is the first part of the journey: fast tracks, technical sections and the long straights of the Atlantic Sahara, before the dunes of Mauritania.

For travellers, Tangier is the easiest place to see the race: checks take place in town and the prologue is run on the Atlantic shore. Note that the 2026 prologue was cancelled because of a severe storm, so check the official programme the day before. Dakhla, the rest-day stop on January 30, is the other natural base for combining the rally with the lagoon and kitesurfing.
