In summer, Morocco lives on the Atlantic. Cooled by trade winds, the coast offers the country's best conditions for water sports: surf and kitesurf in Essaouira and Taghazout, surf, wingfoil and catamaran in the turquoise Dakhla lagoon, boat trips, fishing and jet-ski in Agadir. All these experiences are bookable on GetYourGuide with cancellation terms shown on the partner page — the perfect way to enjoy the cool ocean when inland temperatures top 40 °C.

Each coastal town has its specialty. Essaouira, 'the windy city', is perfect for beginner surf and kitesurf in a wide sheltered bay, steps from the medina. Taghazout, near Agadir, is the cradle of Moroccan surf with its legendary waves (Anchor Point) and schools for all levels. Agadir focuses on boat trips, fishing and jet-ski in warmer, sheltered water, ideal for families. Dakhla, far south, is the world capital of kitesurf and wingfoil thanks to its shallow turquoise lagoon, and also offers catamaran and surf at Aarish. From north to south, there's a spot for every wish and level.
Summer (June-September) is the best season for water sports: reliable thermal wind, long days and mild coastal heat while the interior tops 40 °C. For surfing, autumn and winter bring the best swells at Taghazout (September-April). The Atlantic stays cool year-round (16-22 °C) due to the Canary current, so a wetsuit is almost always provided and recommended, even in high summer. Bring swimwear, a towel, water-resistant sunscreen and a change of clothes. Most lessons and trips book online with cancellation terms shown on the partner page — handy for adapting to the wind.
