Best Time to Visit Taghazout: Surf Season, Weather and Swell
Taghazout, a fishing village about 20 km north of Agadir, has become Morocco's surf capital. The right season mostly depends on your level: the big winter swells are not made for beginners.
The surf season in Taghazout runs from September to April, when North Atlantic swells wake up point breaks such as Anchor Point, with the most powerful conditions usually from November to February. That is the ideal period for experienced surfers. For beginners, summer (June to August) and the shoulder seasons bring smaller, regular waves, perfect for lessons on sandy beaches. The climate is mild all year, like Agadir: about 20 °C by day in winter and 27 °C in summer, with the sea between 17 and 22 °C; a 3/2 mm wetsuit is enough in winter, a shorty or 2 mm in summer. Surf camps fill up fast during the winter and spring school holidays: book early.
