Between Agadir and Essaouira, the small fishing port of Imsouane draws surfers from all over the world for one reason: its bay offers one of the longest waves in Morocco, where you can link turns for a long time. Here is how to make the most of it, whatever your level.
Imsouane is a fishing village on the Atlantic coast, about 1.5 hours' drive north of Agadir and a little under 2 hours south of Essaouira. It is famous for "the Bay", a long, gentle right-hander that peels along the harbour and suits beginners and intermediates alike: rides of several hundred metres are sometimes possible. Right next door, Cathedral Point offers a more powerful wave for experienced surfers only. The best season runs from autumn to spring, when swells are consistent. The village stays simple: guesthouses, surf camps, grilled fish at the port and spectacular sunsets. Many travellers spend 2 or 3 nights there during a stay in Taghazout.

When to Go
