September is a month of transition in Marrakech: still hot at the start, increasingly pleasant as the days go by, and noticeably cheaper once the schools are back.
Marrakech in September means average highs of about 33 °C and 19 °C at night, with the heat easing clearly by the end of the month. Once the schools go back, demand drops and riad prices become affordable again: one of the best deals of the year for travellers without children. Evenings are long and warm, perfect for Jemaa el-Fna and rooftop terraces. By late September, the Merzouga desert becomes doable again (around 35 °C by day, and falling).
