Morocco or Dubai: Which Destination to Choose?
Two very popular escapes from the European winter, but two opposite trips: Morocco of medinas and the Sahara, close and affordable, and Dubai, an ultra-modern Gulf city, hotter and pricier. Here is an honest comparison.
Choose Morocco if you want cultural immersion on a smaller budget with a short flight: about 3.5 hours from Paris to Marrakech, living medinas, riads, the Sahara desert and the Atlas, with prices on the ground generally much lower than in Dubai. In winter, days are mild and sunny in Marrakech and Agadir, but nights are cool and the Atlantic is cold for swimming. Choose Dubai for stronger winter heat with sea you can swim in, luxury, shopping, skyscrapers and beach hotels, at the cost of a flight of about 7 hours from Paris and a higher budget. For EU citizens, no advance visa is needed in either case: a free stamp is issued on arrival in Dubai, and a passport is enough for Morocco. In summer, Dubai gets extremely hot.
