Set between the Atlantic and a lagoon nearly 40 km long, Dakhla is one of the world's best-known kitesurfing spots. Its climate is remarkably stable: what really matters is wind strength.
Dakhla can be visited all year thanks to a very stable climate: around 23-24 °C by day in winter and 27-29 °C in late summer, with very little rain. For kitesurfing, the wind blows most of the year (more than 300 windy days a year is often quoted), but it is generally stronger and steadier from April to September, ideal for experienced riders. From October to March, the wind is often somewhat lighter, which suits beginners on the lagoon's flat water. The sea stays cool, about 18 to 22 °C: a wetsuit is recommended. Dakhla is also a very mild winter-sun destination.
