Best Time to Visit Chefchaouen: Weather, Rain and When to Go
The blue city sits at around 600 metres in the Rif mountains. Its climate is cooler and much wetter than Marrakech's, which can completely change your stay depending on the season.
The best time to visit Chefchaouen is April to June and September to October: temperatures are around 19 to 28 °C, the blue alleys are bright and hikes to the Akchour waterfalls are easy going. Summer is hot, around 32 °C in July-August, and the town is very busy with Moroccan and European visitors. Winter (November to March) is cool, around 14-15 °C by day and close to 5 °C at night, and it is the rainy season: the Rif gets some of the highest rainfall in Morocco, and snow can fall on the peaks. In 2027, Ramadan is expected from about 8 February to 9 March. Chefchaouen is often visited on a day trip from Fes or Tangier: stay at least one night to enjoy the town without the tour groups.
