Agadir to Marrakech: How to Make the Journey
Many travellers combine Agadir's beach with the Marrakech medina. The two cities are linked by a fast motorway, and there is no train: the choice is between bus, car, transfer and a detour via Essaouira. Here is how to choose.
To get from Agadir to Marrakech, allow about 250 km and 3 hours by road on the motorway, which crosses the High Atlas. There is no train line between the two cities. Long-distance buses from the major companies take a little over 3 hours for a modest fare. A private transfer is the most comfortable option, especially for families or with luggage, and a rental car lets you stop on the way. If you have an extra day, the coast road via Essaouira turns the journey into a stopover: beach and a UNESCO-listed medina, then Marrakech the next day. Shared grand taxis also run, but are less comfortable over this distance.
