Marrakech or Tangier: Which City to Choose?
Marrakech and Tangier are two very different gateways: the red city of the south, with its souks and the nearby desert, and the white city of the north, facing Europe between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. Here is how to choose.

It is the city with the most flights from Europe, but summer there is very hot. Choose Tangier for a gentler first contact with Morocco: a port city open to the strait, a medina and kasbah that are easier to explore, beaches, Cape Spartel and the Caves of Hercules, a milder summer climate, and Chefchaouen about 2 hours away. Tangier is also reachable by ferry from Spain and linked to Casablanca by the Al Boraq high-speed train.
